Safari Overview
The 12 Days Uganda wildlife safari promises you astonishing sightings ranging from elephants, buffaloes, lions, hyenas, zebras, to chimpanzees & mountain gorillas. This safari mainly involves soaking yourself in the rainforest & savanna parks. Expect to begin your wildlife experience at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison, then transition to Kibale for chimpanzees. Proceed to Queen Elizabeth Game Park, Bwindi, and finalize with game viewing in Lake Mburo National Park.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & pick up at the Entebbe Airport
Once you have landed at the Entebbe Airport, find our meet & greet expert to walk you through the clearing stages as per the airport. The driver guide will also be present to pick you up and drive you out of the airport. In about 15-20 minutes, you will be at your pre-booked lodge to have a quick briefing as you go through the itinerary together with our company representative.
Day 2: A journey to Murchison Falls National Park via Luweero
Start your journey to explore Murchison Falls National Park, and getting there will include a visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. At Ziwa, your focus will be on participating in the trek with the rhinos with the UWA guide. Lunch will follow, and you will continue on a scenic drive to Murchison Falls NP. Today, you will also have a photography moment at the top of Murchison waterfalls and also observe the falls as it forces itself through a narrow rock of 7-8m.
Day 3: Murchison Falls game safari –morning & afternoon
Enjoy a delicious, hefty breakfast and join your driver guide for a rewarding game drive journey. Spending between 2 and 3 hours on a game drive lets you explore the diversity of your favorite animals, including the Rothschild giraffes, cape buffaloes, elephants, lions, and many antelopes, plus birds. Drive back while appreciating the park’s scenic landscapes with dotted tall palm trees.
The afternoon session will be for you to explore the Victoria Nile on a boat tour. Connect towards the base of Murchison Falls, and the journey allows you to watch yawning hippos, sunbathing Nile crocodiles, and countless water birds.
Day 4: Game drive & Nile boat tour
Another extensive day will be spent as you unearth more of Murchison Falls National Park’s wonders. Join the morning game drive and explore several of the park’s sun risers, and after a period of about 2 to 3 hours, you will get back to enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, expect to experience the best of the Nile delta boat cruise with an expert.
Day 5: Drive to Kibale to see your favorite monkeys
Today, you will be exiting Murchison and heading to Kibale National Park. This journey comes with breathtaking views of the countryside, the dramatic Rift Valley, and tea farms. Arrive at Fort Portal city for lunch, and next will be checking into the lodge in Kibale Forest, home to 13 various primate species.
Day 6: Chimpanzee trek tour in Kibale & Bigodi walking safari
Expect a long day of searching for primates in Kibale National Park and Bigodi Wetland. First, join the rest for the memorable morning chimpanzee tracking session. The Kibale Forest trek with chimps can go for 2-4 hours with entire adventure involving walking through the forest. Expect an hour to take pictures and observe chimpanzees as they display their distinct behaviors. The afternoon session will take you on a nature walk through the Bigodi wetland ecosystem for more primate sightings.
Day 7: Kibale transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park
Today, expect to exit Queen Elizabeth National Park and connect via Kasese. En route, you will have a moment at the beautiful Kikorongo Equator site and continue to your accommodation for lunch. Your afternoon will mark the first game drive session, which mainly allows you to explore lots of small and large mammals, plus interesting birds.
Day 8: Game drive & boat safari experiences
Wake up early and begin the day with a hearty breakfast, or carry it and take it in your tour vehicle. The game drive session will begin before the sun rises to enable you to clear with park officers early and proceed with a game drive. Setting off early is meant for you to spot lots of your favorite animals in their active mood.
The Kasenyi track is most famous for sightings of big game, Uganda Kobs, warthogs, smiling hyenas, and birds like Kori bustards. Return on a slow drive speed and enjoy lunch at the lodge. Meet the driver guide again and transfer to the Mweya Jetty for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel.
Day 9: Magical drive to Bwindi
Have a hefty breakfast at leisure, and today, you will be heading to Bwindi Forest. Today’s journey connects you to the Ishasha region, one of the places where tree-climbing lions live in East Africa. After you have searched for tree-climbing lions, drive out of Queen Elizabeth National Park and proceed to check into your lodge around Buhoma.
Day 10: A Great day for gorilla trekking
It is an exceptional day to embark on a gorilla trekking adventure with a Bwindi Forest park guide. But first, you will be briefed and assigned to a gorilla family plus a ranger guide. The actual trekking journey can start from 8-9 am, which is expected to last 2-6 hours.
As you wind through the forest, your anticipation of finding the silverback and the rest of the members keeps building up. The moment you come across gorillas, you will have an hour to observe them as they feed, play, bond, and take pictures.
After you have completed your 1 hour, catch up with your driver guide at the drop-off point. The Batwa cultural safari session begins in the afternoon and mainly allows you to learn about the Batwa pygmies’ cultures and traditions.
Day 11: A journey to Lake Mburo
Have a hefty breakfast at leisure, and today, you will be bid farewell to Bwindi as you journey to Lake Mburo National Park. Arrive early and begin your guided boat tour on Lake Mburo. The Lake Mburo wildlife adventure will reward you with countless crocodiles, hippos, and birds, etc.
Day 12: Game drive & exit Lake Mburo
Embark on a fun-filled game drive early morning. Expect to have amazing sightings including the cape buffaloes, zebras, elands, topis, giraffes, and impalas, etc. After, get back, check out, and proceed to Entebbe with en route photography at Kayabwe equator crossing.
