Safari Overview
The 14 Days Explore Uganda Safari takes you through a complete 2-week adventure in the Pearl of Africa. It is a wonderful safari package with a myriad of experiences, including game drives, rhino trekking at Ziwa, boat cruise tours, chimpanzee, and mountain gorilla trekking. The 2-week Uganda safari introduces you to the savanna and rainforest areas, with expectations centered on destinations; Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls National Park, Murchison, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth Park, Lake Mburo, & Lake Bunyonyi.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Transfer in Entebbe
This day mainly focuses on pick up and airport transfer to your pre-booked accommodation. At your classic hotel, have a quick briefing from our representative as we walk you through the entire 14-day Uganda Explore Safari. Enjoy the rest of the evening at the lodge and ensure everything is set for tomorrow’s journey to Murchison.
Day 2: Pick up & travel to Ziwa –trek rhinos & continue to Murchison
A hearty breakfast to be enjoyed early morning & you depart for Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola. Get a chance to visit rhinos on foot or even name your favorite rhino at a fee. The Ziwa rhino trek takes about 2 hours, and after, you can retreat to the wild. Catch up with your driver and continue safely to Masindi town to have lunch. The next journey will be to Kichumbanyobo gate, leading you to your safari lodge inside Murchison Falls National Park.
Day 3: Game drive safari & Boat experience on the Victoria Nile
After the heavy breakfast, meet the driver guide and continue with the exciting game drive tour. Pay attention to the early risers while they become more active, including vibrant antelopes –oribis, Uganda Kobs, Jackson hartebeest, & big game –buffaloes, lions, elephants, & if your day is lucky, you may find the elusive leopards. Return from the 2-3 hour morning game drive session and have a great time at the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, catch up with your driver who is to transfer you to the Paraa Jetty to begin your Nile boat cruise experience for 2-3 hours. This recreational experience comes with amazing encounters ranging from hippos, the Nile crocodiles, & aquatic bird species.
Day 4: Murchison transfer to Kibale Forest in Kabarole district
Depart from your lodge on a scenic journey to Kibale National Park. As you connect via the Hoima-Fort Portal route, expect incredible views of the vast tea farms and dramatic Rift Valley escarpment views. Get to Fort Portal to enjoy a delicious meal, and later, you can be dropped off at your respective lodges.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking tour & Bigodi ecosystem nature walk
Time to embark on the search for chimpanzees in the lush Kibale Forest, and your day starts with the orientation at Kanyanchu. At Kanyanchu, the park officials carry out verification and also assign small groups of 6 visitors to one armed park guide. The Kibale chimp trek session will extend for 2-4 hours, and you have up to 1 hour for taking pictures or witnessing how chimpanzees conduct themselves.
Kibale is an enriching destination for primate enthusiasts. The park prides itself on 12 additional primates, including the unique l’hoest monkeys that you will be spotting on the way.
Have lunch, and your afternoon will be for you to explore Bigodi Wetland. At Bigodi, an experienced local guide accompanies you and expects to find more species of primates & birds.
Day 6: Kibale –Queen Elizabeth with Kikorongo Equator Photography Experience
Enjoy a delicious breakfast, and today will be for you to exit Kibale for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Drive via Kasese and connect to Kikorongo Equator Monument for a brief stopover, and later, you can be dropped off at accommodation to check in. Lunch to be offered by the lodge’s staff, and then you proceed to Mweya peninsula jetty for a boat cruise.
Day 7: Kasenyi game drive tour –morning & afternoon
Enjoy an early morning breakfast from the lodge, and today will be spent on a game drive through Kasenyi track/plains with a guide present. In a 4×4 safari car, expect a 2-3 hour excursion and expect sightings to range from spotted hyenas, leopards, buffaloes, warthogs, Uganda Kobs, elephants, and amazing birds. The lunch break will be made, and then return to finalize the afternoon game drive.
Day 8: Drive via Ishasha to Buhoma region (Bwindi Forest)
Drive to Ishasha in the extreme Southern Queen Elizabeth Park and enjoy a quick game drive. Today, the priority will be to search for the tree-climbing lions plus several other mammals & bird species. Continue to your respective places of stay at Buhoma, the closest gorilla trekking region to Ishasha.
Day 9: Bwindi Forest gorilla trekking experience & relax
Join the rest of the primate adventure seekers on the morning orientation as the park takes you through the dos and don’ts that you must follow. By around 8:00 am, you will be on an active trek with mountain gorillas with a Bwindi park guide, also joined by porters or trackers. A maximum of 1 hour is to be spent purposely for you to observe the unique behaviors of mountain gorillas and capture their pictures. The rest of the evening should be for relaxation & reflection at the lodge.
Day 10: Batwa cultural encounter & Lake Bunyonyi safari
After breakfast, continue to the Batwa community & explore more about the Batwa pygmies’ traditions & cultures. Later, you will be dropped off at Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s deepest lake, and also an ideal spot for swimming since it has no crocodiles/hippos. Wrap your day at Lake Bunyonyi with a scenic sunset cruise experience to one of the Lake’s 29 tropical islands.
Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi –Lake Mburo tour (about 6-hour drive)
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and check out of Lake Bunyonyi’s lodge. Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, a wildlife paradise where you stand a chance to see the highest number of zebras, elands, kobs, and topis. Expect to join the late afternoon game drive tour after settling for lunch in your game safari lodges.
Day 12: Full-day Lake Mburo safari
The sensational Lake Mburo safari includes morning game drive and boat tour in the afternoon. The game drive in the morning allows you search for impalas, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and birds, etc. In the afternoon as you navigate via the scenic Lake Mburo, expect to watch hippos, crocodiles, and water birds.
Day 13: Cycling & cultural experience
Experience the best of Lake Mburo on a cycling excursion or a bush walk. In the afternoon, conclude your Lake Mburo session with a visit to the nearby community. Learn a lot about Ankole traditions, practices, and cultures.
Day 14: Lake Mburo to Kayabwe & finally to Entebbe
It is a wonderful day to bid farewell to Lake Mburo Game Park, and en route comes with a stopover at Kayabwe. At leisure, take pictures, and later, you will settle for lunch, which is then followed by the final drive to Entebbe.
