Masai Mara National Reserve.

Samburu National Reserve.
Samburu National Reserve is located in the north part of Kenya and the semi-arid landscape shelters unique species that are not found in any other Kenyan park and these may include Beisa oryx and reticulated giraffes. The park is also close to the Ewaso Nyiro River that pulls elephants and big cats for drinking water. Samburu feels more remote and wild compared to many national parks in Kenya.

Best Time for Kenya Safaris
Kenya is abundant in wildlife, but for a full wildlife experience, timing determines a lot. The long dry season from June to October offers excellent wildlife viewing, passable and firm roads with shorter vegetation. Excitingly, this period coincides with the biggest wildlife show in the world, where the wildebeest migration occurs, especially the Mara River crossings. The event peaks around August and September and this is the peak season. Guests are therefore advised to book lodges and pass park permits in advance.
The short dry season of December to March gives clear wildlife views, and friendly rates compared to long dry periods. The short window also brings migratory birds, and green landscapes. January and February are ideal for families who may prefer less crowds.
The wet rainy seasons are normally from long March to May and this is when long rains occur, short rains come in October to late November, all the 2 rainy seasons turn the plains green and fertile, and prices are often lower with fewer crowds. However, the game drives become tricky due to wet slippery roads, with excellent birding activities on the other hand.
Two dry seasons are also the perfect timing for Mount Kenya hikes given that hiking trails are clear and easy to pass. The drier months also bring calmer seas hence enabling boat cruise tours and beach relaxations at Diane beach.
