Safari Overview
Embark on the 7-day safari to experience the best of Uganda’s most spectacular National Parks and their abundant wildlife, plus birdlife. The 7 Days best of Uganda safari introduces you to premier places for you to experience the unmatched wildlife & primate adventures. Expect to explore Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary during a guided rhino tracking, Murchison Falls National Park for a game drive, and a boat cruise. The savanna game viewing experience is spiced by primate treks, including chimpanzee tracking in Kibale, nature walks in Bigodi swamp, and Bwindi Forest gorilla tracking experience.
The Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up & drive up to Murchison with Rhino Tracking en route
Expect to begin your colorful day with a heavy breakfast, and after that, leave for Murchison, which lies in the Northwestern tourist circuit of Uganda. The journey to Murchison Falls National Park will cover about 6-7 hours and includes driving via the popular Luweero Triangle. En route highlights include mainly the Ziwa Rhino tracking session and lunch upon arrival at Masindi town. Before getting to your respective accommodation, you will pay a visit to the top of the falls to observe the powerful roar of the Nile River as it forces itself through a narrow gorge that measures not more than 7-8m.
Day 2: Game drive & Boat cruise –private/scheduled
Leave the comfort of your wilderness lodge for an exciting game drive session through the Northern track of Murchison Falls National Park. The 2-3 hour game drive brings with it amazing sightings, including buffalo, elephants, Rothschild giraffes, leopards, and varieties of antelope families. After your complete morning game drive session, return and lunch will be provided to you at the safari lodge.
Continue with the afternoon boat excursion, with the set off point being the Paraa Jetty. With the experts present, traverse the Victoria Nile for about 2-3 hours, and the focus should be towards the shores/river banks to witness hundreds of hippos, the basking Nile crocodiles, and many of aquatic birds. Get amazed by the scenic Murchison Falls as you draw close to its base. After taking photos, return by boat and meet the driver guide to take you back to the lodge to chill, dine, & retire for a night.
Day 3: Departure for Kibale with lunch break at Fort Portal city
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and after, expect to leave Murchison Falls National Park for Kibale. It will be a scenic drive as we pass the vibrant Hoima and also the breathtaking countryside, the rift valley escarpments. From Hoima, connect up to Fort Portal, where a brief stopover will be made for you to enjoy a delicious lunch.
Leave the cool Fort Portal for Kibale, where you will check into the lodge for relaxation. Kibale is Africa’s unique primate destination, home to 13 primate species that make it the true primate capital of the world. Within the lush 795 sq. km Kibale, there reside over 1500 chimpanzees, plus lots of other species like vervet monkeys.
Day 4: Experience the best of Kibale chimp trek with Bigodi swamp walk
Get yourself set for the chimpanzee trek, and today, exit your lodge when you have had breakfast. Transfer to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre to meet the park officials to take you through an orientation exercise. Learn useful regulations to be followed during chimpanzee trekking, an adventure that will begin at around 8:00 am.
The park ranger guide allocated to you will take the lead and expect to spend at least 2-4 hours in the Kibale Forest as you look out for chimpanzees. You will return to have a delicious lunch at the lodge and continue to Bigodi wetland to see more primates & amazing birds.
Day 5: Depart for Bwindi with an en route game drive at Ishasha
Today, expect to set off from Kibale National Park to Bwindi, a journey that will run for about 6-7 hours. A great photography session awaits you at the new stunning Kikorongo Equator monument. There will also be an opportunity for you to make a stop visit at Ishasha to explore the wonders in the Southern Queen Elizabeth National Park, then connect to Bwindi.
Day 6: Enjoy the Bwindi Forest gorilla trek & visit Batwa
Leave your lodge after breakfast and carry with you some packed lunch or high-energy snacks plus enough water. Arrive at the park offices to meet the park official to take you through the rules and regulations. Begin the actual gorilla trek at around 8:00 am, and the session is expected to extend for at least 2-6 hours, but includes one hour of magical interaction at a distance of about 10m. Return up to the park offices to receive your certificate and transfer to the lodge to relax.
Have lunch at leisure, and late afternoon will come with the Batwa visit. This will be typically a cultural experience where you have a chance to interact with the Batwa pygmies. After, you will only have leisure time in your accommodation facilities.
Day 7: Depart –Enjoy lunch en route
After breakfast, you only have to check out of the lodge and bid farewell to the vibrant Bwindi Forest. En route to Kampala/Entebbe, expect to have a stopover at the hotel to have lunch, followed by the Equator photography moment.
