Join us on a captivating wildlife and primate safari combo as you unearth the wonders in the savanna plains and thick rainforests in Uganda. The 5 Days Uganda gorillas, wildlife, and chimps offer the best of guided game drives, gorilla, and chimpanzee trekking experiences. The target places to be explored on this short safari in Uganda include Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kyambura Gorge, & Bwindi Forest.

Expect to drive from Kampala to Kyambura Gorge to begin your vacation with chimpanzee tracking. Continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park to experience a guided game drive & boat trip, then conclude with gorilla trekking in Bwindi.

The Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up & Drive to Kyambura Gorge (Eastern Queen Elizabeth National Park)

Get up early and have a hefty breakfast to warm you in the cold morning at your respective hotel in Entebbe. Your Uganda driver guide will be present at the hotel premises to ensure your luggage is packed safely. Today’s journey will involve driving to the western circuit of Uganda via Masaka and expect to have an en route stopovers to specific site (Equator).

Leave Kayabwe for Kyambura Gorge, which is situated in Eastern Queen Elizabeth National Park. Arrive early to check into your lodge, dine, and later, stay overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking & transfer to Kazinga for boat excursion

Early morning, expect a hefty breakfast before you join the briefing session. The orientation will mainly provide you with insight into the Kyambura Gorge chimpanzee tracking regulations. The protected area official present will also assign your group an experienced ranger guide. Leave for the actual trek with the Kyambura Gorge chimpanzees, and wind through the beautiful rainforest and valley landscape.

The chimpanzee trek session will extend for about 2-5 hours, with a guarantee of one hour for a close encounter with a habituated chimp community. As you traverse the lush rainforest of Kyambura Gorge (Valley of Apes), expect to also locate other primates ranging from the olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, to black & white colobus monkeys.

After the magical encounter with chimpanzees in the scenic Kyambura Gorge, return to have an early lunch. Later, proceed straight to the Kazinga channel to join others for an exciting boat cruise experience. While you traverse the Kazinga channel, you stand a chance to observe lots of hippos, the massive Nile Crocodiles, & others. After the thrilling excursion on the Kazinga channel, return safely to your respective lodges to enjoy a leisurely dinner.

Day 3: Kasenyi game drive & transfer to Buhoma via Ishasha  

Have a tasty breakfast and later embark on the rewarding 2-3 hour game drive session. The Kasenyi track is most famous for excellent sightings of the big game, birds, and antelope families. After the game drive, enjoy a lunch break early and continue to Bwindi. Exit via Ishasha, but you will have a quick game drive with the target to find the tree-climbing lions. From Ishasha, connect with ease to your pre-booked accommodation in the Northern region of Bwindi.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking plus thrilling Batwa tour

After breakfast, you will be picked up by the driver guide, and you will continue to the Buhoma trailhead for orientation on gorilla trekking rules. At Buhoma, you will also be allocated a park ranger guide plus gorilla families to be visited, starting at around 8:00 am. The overall session will run for 2-6 hours and covers a special one-hour for you to take pictures and also for you to closely observe their unique behaviors.

Begin returning at a slow pace while keeping eyes on some other species that survive in the lush Bwindi Forest. Arrive at the visitor center for you to receive the gorilla trekking certificate and then continue up to the lodge for relaxation.

After the long gorilla trekking session, expect to have a short relaxation, and later, you can be accompanied to the Batwa community. Enjoy amazing performances from the indigenous Batwa people. The Batwa cultural tour also includes an in-depth exploration of their traditions & practices. After, enjoy the rest of the day in the comfort of your accommodation facility around Bwindi.

Day 5: Transfer back to Entebbe through Mbarara with an en route stopover at Kayabwe

At your respective lodges, enjoy an early morning breakfast and later get your property packed in a 4×4 safari vehicle. Today’s program mainly involves check out and driving back to Entebbe, but expect an en route stopover for lunch, etc.
