This season is also the peak wildebeest migration time, where river crossings in northern Serengeti hit harder especially from July to October and August to September.
January to February is where the calving season occurs in southern Serengeti. Over half a million babies are born in a short period of time, with predators awaiting everywhere. Prices are softer than peak during the short rains from November to December.
March to May brings long rains and the landscapes are greener. Less crowded, but muddy roads. Birders love the wet months because migratory birds from Europe arrive. Therefore, travelers who love chasing the Big 5 and the wildebeest migration should stick to dry windows.
